Sun on a Cloudy Day

A good enough title I suppose. I decided to skip the rest of the Tarte Ten palette for now and head on to the BH Cosmetics 120 Ultra Shimmer Palette instead. In the photo below I included a swatch of the 4 colors from the 120US and I also included a pic of the four colors together, forming a sort of quad.

What I did:

1) Applied Urban Decay Primer potion on entire eyelid.
2) Using  crease brush I applied the light Steel grey shadow in the outer v and also the crease of the lid.
3) Using a crease brush I applied some of the dark brown (looks almost black) into the outer v then blended with the Steel Grey color.
4) Using a stiff eyeshadow brush I applied the blue to the center of the eyelid and blended.
5) Using stiff eyeshadow brush I used the orange/gold color to the inner corner of the lid and blended.
6) Cleaned up any fall out under eye using makeup remover, then applied Concealer under the eyes, and around nostrils.
7) Using NYC Translucent loose powder foundation I applied all over the face with a puff then blended into skin using a Kabuki Brush.
8) Using Tarte Aqua Gel Liner in Black (came with the True Blood Palette) I lined the upper lash line.
9) Apply Loreal Fiber False Lash mascara in Black to lashes. ( First time using this mascara and I have to say I LOVE IT!!!)
10) Take an angle brush and lightly brush a coordinating color (to your hair) to your eyebrows to define them. (I use Werewolf from the Tart for True Blood Palette).
11) Apply your fav lipstick. I used Darling Pink Lipgloss from Avon.

And please I know it's hard but ignore the horribleness of my hair. I went in for a trim and the woman butchered it. ((Sigh))

Shimmering Green??

So the next two colors in the palette an the look I have been trying to get pics of for the last few days uses a Forest green and a gold. The gold looks gold the forest green not so much. Oh well. I was finally able to get pics but the look and colors are so boring I just couldn't get excited about it. Oh yes I dyed my hair Red and it is already growing back.

Nature is gorgeous

So we have been having some very stormy weather the last few days. I have been doing the same look for the past three days hoping that the light would help me out enough to get some decent pics. Alas nature is not helping me out. However, I thought I would share the gorgeousness that greeted us at about 5 pm tonight. These are the orchards around our house and some of the trees on our street. Just a perfect little bit of gold to color the world with. I know it isnt makeup but I thought it was worth sharing.

Smoked out on a cold day..

Today was a very cold wet and grey day. One of the first days we have had this winter that truly felt like winter. The next colors in my Tarte Palette are sigh, neutrals. LOL. So I did this look and well it kind of suited my mood dealing with today's weather and having to go out and run errands. And yes I know I need to dye my hair and am happy to say that I did about 15 min ago, so tomorrow's looks and pics will be grey hair free.

Urban Decay Primer potion.
NYX jumbo pencil in Milk (used as a base to put Half Baked on)
Revlon Custom Eyes in Black
NYC loose face powder all over face..don't know the color off hand.

Rethinking the Plan

So I am rethinking the idea of going through the palette's one color at a time. Especially the Naked Palette. So I am thinking two at a time as long as they are right next to each other. Yeah sounds like a good plan to me. will be posting a new look later today.

Naked Sidecar

Hello. Well I did this look yesterday but did not have time until today to get the pics uploaded. I am a little disappointed, this look does not photograph well. Ok lets be honest I have an awesome camera but I am not that great of a photographer. Anyways the result is the same, this makeup looked much different and far better in person. Sigh.

Also I used two colors from the Naked Palette for this look. The reason being that one of the colors is the same color as my skin almost.

Used:

"Sidecar" UD Naked (used all over the lid)
"Naked" UD Naked (used to blend out crease)
"Nocturnal" Tarte for True Blood (used in crease and outer v)
"The Light" Tarte for True Blood (used on brow bone)
"Immortal" Tarte for True Blood (used wet as eyeliner on top lid)
 Revlon Custom Eyes in Black

Look 2

Yay finally things have calmed down enough that I was able to do a second look. I ran errands and had lunch with a friend an got so many compliments on my makeup. Think this one will be my go to neutral eye. I am however thinking of skipping the third color in the Urban Decay Naked palette. It is very matte and the same color as my skin. I have no idea what I can do with it, it will be an amazing color to blend out edges but as a focal point to a look it really just won't work. So this is what I did.

Eyes:
Feature color: "Sin" by Urban Decay, used on the lid.
Crease color: "V" by Tarte for True Blood
Highlight color: "The Light" by Tarte for True Blood
Eyeliner: Tarte's aqualiner in Black (came with True Blood Palette)
Mascara: Revlon extended eye in Black.

No excuses

Just an explanation. I am exhausted. My Mother is still not well and I have spent the day driving to doctors appointments and waiting in ridiculous lines at pharmacy's. I will be doing my second look from the Urban Decay palette tomorrow if it kills me. Just tonight it is already 10 pm and this is the first time I have had a chance to even sit down and look at the computer. So tomorrow is a new day and with it I hope a new look to share with you.

Day 1.. Virgin by Urban Decay

I tell you the world was conspiring against me getting this first look done. Ok not really but it definitely felt that way. The phone kept ringing, my mom was needing my help and before I could get any decent pics of the look I had to leave the house to take Rob to go get his truck from the shop. But here we are.

The first Palette I am working with is the Urban Decay Naked palette. This is simply the most gorgeous neutral palette I have ever seen. Been drooling over it for about a year and my lovely friend Amy gave it to me for my Birthday. So the first color in the palette is named Virgin. I used this on the lid and also on the brow bone. I chose to use Dusk (true blood palette) in the crease and Werewolf (true blood) in the outer V. I was running out of time so I just put a very thin line of Black eyeliner near the top lashes and threw on some black mascara. I know it isn't terribly exciting or anything, but it is a very nice look to wear to work or during the day.

Since the Naked Palette is very neutral these first 12 looks are going to of course be a lot of brown tones.

Ready Start......Stop

I was woken up at 7am this morning after 3 hours asleep by my phone. My Mother needed me to take her to the emergency room. As a result I was unable to do my first look. So just letting you know that I will begin my Path of Color tomorrow 1/2/12. Oh and yes my Mom is fine. She pulled the muscle in her upper leg very badly and can't walk on it, we were concerned it was a blood clot and are needless to say relieved that all it is is muscle spasms. See you guys tomorrow with a whole new look.
